Choosing Sunglasses

It is easy to make a choice on sunglasses if you know about the various types in relevance to the purpose for which you are wearing the glasses. Some wear sunglasses for comfort in outdoor activities while others wear them for glare free vision and as fashion accessories.

Aviator sunglasses are the oldest design but still in fashion. They are characterized by triangular oval shape and come in various styles and shapes .They are also considered cool accessories.

Wayfare sunglasses are the most fascinating in design which is wide and angular. This makes them look elegant on both men and women wearing them. They come in various colours and textures and have vibrant frames. The Dior sunglasses in jet black are an example of the wayfare style.

Tea shades are in demand among people who adore high edged fashion .Those with dark lenses are medium sized and perfectly round .They can be worn by people who want to be different and unique from the crowd.

Polarized sunglasses, give clear vision without glares even in bright sunlight. They help ensure comfort when driving and available in different shapes and sizes.

Mirror shade glasses have a mirror coating on the surface of the lenses and are effective in extreme weather conditions as they allow minimum light to pass through.

When choosing sunglasses, the buyer should ensure the size is proportional with the face size. Smaller sunglasses are best for smaller faces and larger ones for large. The frame shape should be the opposite shape of the face. Almost any style works for oval face including wraparounds or shields and square shaped frames with gently rounded edges and higher temples.

Round faces usually need sunglasses with frames that make the face appear longer and thinner. Generally one should look for frames equal to or slightly wider than the broadest part of the face. Sunglasses with brow bars make the face appear longer by pulling the eyes upwards.

A diamond shaped faced has wide or high cheekbones with a narrow forehead and chin. Oval sunglasses soften the contour of the face, although softly curved square frames work as well. However, the styles should not be wider than the top of the cheekbones.

A square face consists of a strong jaw line, wide cheekbones and a broad forehead. The buyer should consider choosing sunglasses with a style that reduces the angles .classic ovals also work for this face shape.

An oblong face needs sunglasses that widen and shorten the face with styles that do not extend beyond the widest part of the face. Round and square shapes usually look great on this type of face.

A triangular face would require sunglasses that soften the lower portion of the face by accenting the eye area.

It is also important to choose eye glasses that provide protection from ultra violet radiation in order to prevent eye disease. The glasses should block 99-100% of UVA and UVB radiation. One should check the label of the sunglasses to make sure it is indicated either UV400 or 100% protection.

In designer sunglasses such as Gucci and Dior sunglasses, care should be taken to ensure the quality of the lenses is not compromised by the need of acquiring fashionable sunglasses.
